Ms Kate Pettitt, teacher
My name is Kate Pettitt and I'm extremely passionate about creative and performing arts. I have a Masters in Primary education and an Arts degree. My background is music and I am a professional jazz musician. I enjoy teaching singing and percussion across all stages and I'm excited to be working at Bowral Public School.
Mr Greg Thompson, teacher
Greg is an experienced teacher currently working in a wide variety of programs K-6 including those which release teachers from face-to-face teaching. Greg has worked with many generations of students in his time with Bowral Public School and is committed to providing a wide variety of opportunities for students through the creative arts, in particular in music and visual arts education. He is an artist and paints landscapes in oils and he loves using his skills as a pianist to enhance music education at our school. He is currently a member of the school executive team and is the assistant principal leading the Stage 2 team of teachers.
Greg has worked in Tertiary Education with the University of Wollongong lecturing in under-graduate and graduate teacher education courses. He was the designer on both creative and production teams of the Department of Education's arena spectacular, Southern Stars for many years and was responsible for costume design and staging direction.
Miss Nicola Kaye, Learning and Support Teacher
"My job is a joy. Everyday I get to sit beside a child and watch as they become literate". Miss Nicola Kaye has been teaching for 28 years and joined the teaching staff at Bowral Public School in 2015 as the Reading Recovery Teacher. Continuing in that role in 2017, Miss Kaye added to her responsibilities, proudly taking on the role of Learning and Support Team Coordinator, providing her with the opportunity to advocate for children with specific learning and behavioural needs. "This is not just what I do, it is who I am. I am unashamedly passionate about my role of teacher at our wonderful school".
Mrs Pamela Bates, Classroom teacher
Mrs Bates is teaching KB this year. She has been teaching for over 25 years and in this time has taught all grades from K-6, high school briefly and taught a Senior IO class for a few years. Mrs Bates loves teaching Kindergarten and is amazed every year at how clever the students are. Mrs Bates is also passionate about dancing and together with Mrs hardy has provided our students with varied opportunities in performance. She is looking forward to another fantastic year.
Miss Lauren Henderson, Classroom teacher
Ms Henderson is an experienced classroom practitioner. She has taught in early childhood settings and conventional schools and has been teaching at Bowral Public for twenty years.
Ms Henderson believes in the development of the whole child and with this in mind, provides learning experiences which meet the academic, social, emotional, creative and physical needs of her students.
A key element of Ms Henderson's approach is to build on every child's self- esteem in order for them to reach their unique potential.
In her spare time Ms Henderson enjoys cooking, singing, travelling and walking.
